Work Programs
The Pacific Quality Infrastructure (PQI) Initiative is working on a number of work programs to improve the quality infrastructure in the Pacific region. These work programs include:
- Establishing regional QI frameworks for standardisation, metrology, conformity assessment, and quality promotion: This work program is aimed at developing and harmonizing standards, metrology, conformity assessment, and quality promotion frameworks for the Pacific region. This will help to ensure that the quality infrastructure in the region is consistent and meets international standards.
- Identifying quality challenges in selected value chains in key export sectors: This work program is aimed at identifying and addressing the quality challenges faced by businesses in key export sectors in the Pacific region. This will help to improve the quality of products and services produced in the region, which can help to increase exports and boost economic growth.
- Building the capacity of QI institutions and stakeholders: This work program is aimed at building the capacity of QI institutions and stakeholders in the Pacific region. This will help to ensure that these institutions and stakeholders have the skills and knowledge they need to implement and maintain quality infrastructure in the region.
- Promoting the use of QI to improve the quality of goods and services: This work program is aimed at promoting the use of QI to improve the quality of goods and services in the Pacific region. This will help to protect consumers, promote fair trade practices, and facilitate international trade.
The PQI Initiative is also working on a number of other activities to improve the quality infrastructure in the Pacific region. These activities include:
- Developing and harmonizing standards and regulations for testing.
- Building the capacity of testing laboratories.
- Facilitating the exchange of information and expertise on testing.
- Promoting the use of testing to improve the quality of goods and services in the Pacific region.
